Joanna is a London based theatre and film director and producer. She is the founder of The Feathers of Daedalus Circus and also a free lance acrobat, aerialist and artist.

Joanna has a 1st class BA in Art History from Cambridge University. It was whilst studying here that she began directing and producing theatre. On graduating in 2016, Joanna founded her circus and arts company The Feathers of Daedalus Circus . Through Feathers Joanna has directed and produced 8 theatre shows, 3 short films and 2 exhibitions, achieving 5 Arts Council England grants for these projects. Joanna is a cofounder of female led Creative Scotland supported circus company Sonder Circus and does freelance acrobatic and aerial work. Joanna was an elite gymnast as a child competing nationally and internationally before training in circus at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London and Circocan in Brazil. In recent years she has performed for Sonder Circus and Shotgun Carousel.

Joanna directs and designs music videos for London based indie artist NowEx and has also worked in costume design, designing for Emmy nominated film In The Cold Dark Night. Joanna is also an internationally exhibited artist and has had her paintings on display in galleries in India, Brazil and Japan, and completed her 200 hour Yoga teacher training at Sampoorna in Goa, India. She has taught Yoga for Alt Fitness in Glasgow and the Extreme Hotel in the Dominican Republic.

Joanna graduated with an MA in film producing from the National Film and Television School in March 2023. Since then she has been producing at Adventure Pictures alongside Oscar nominated Sally Potter and Christopher Sheppard (Orlando, The Party, Ginger and Rosa) on various upcoming projects. Joanna has represented Sally Potter feature films at the Berlinale co-production market 2023 and Cannes film festival 2023 and 2024. Joanna continues to produce and direct short films and theatre. Joanna’s latest short film as a director Mother Goose won the Analog Film Fund award from From The Silver Screen and she was selected as a director for one of two outcomes of the Kyoto Filmmakers lab 2024 where she directed the Assassin’s Flower. As a producer she has short films being developed with BBC Film and The Scottish Ballet. Joanna also has various feature films and TV series in development as a producer, writer and director. In real life Joanna tries not to refer to herself in the third person.
